Trinity Troubadours
From the liner notes:
'As far as we know it, there is no canon of Canadian folk music in existence today. When we sit around in the pubs and listen to the small group on the cramped stage in the corner, chances are the songs they sing come from another country other than this one. But while we can't fail to recognize or respect the influence of these older cultures on our own, there is also a strong musical reserve right here in Canada. The songs in this collection are both traditional and contemporary, drawing on various cultures and heritages, but they all have two things in common: they are songs written in Canada by Canadians about Canada, and they are really good songs. And perhaps the most interesting thing about these arrangements is that they mix cultures, helping to define Canada through music because we often find it hard to do it in words. It would be going too far to call this small collection a new canon of Canadian Folk music, but it's a good start.'
